I am still recovering from all the fun I had doing this session. Caity and her new hubby John just got married last weekend and were here visiting lovely South Florida for their honeymoon. John’s cousin is a friend of ours and when Caity mentioned that she wanted to do trash-the-dress session, our friend knew just who to call. And since Caity and John were here for just a couple more days, we only had one window of time to do the session: right in the middle of the day. Literally, noon. I have always steered clear of mid-day shoots because of harsh lighting and sweltering heat but we had no choice and I was actually pretty excited about the challenge.
So we headed to one of my favorite parks that offered plenty of shade and dress-trashing options, and then we had some serious fun. Caity was fan-tas-tic and totally willing to go with whatever ideas came to mind. John was assistant extraordinaire in the background carrying our stuff, and on guard ready to grab my gear if I started to slip towards the water. (note: slippery rocks + camera gear = very scary). We started off by playing nice with the dress and then when we couldn’t take the heat any longer we decided it was time to trash!!
So even though it was scorching hot and we had some pretty substantial shadows to deal with, we still had a great shoot and as a result I am posting 20 shots. Ridiculous I know, but I am so captivated by the feel of this session that I couldn’t narrow it down any further. So enjoy! And I am interested to know, would you “trash” your wedding dress?

Jason Reynolds - Jessica, these are fantastic photos. So creative and beautiful. Well done. Very impressed. Next time we do family photos with you we want our girls under water in their dresses (oh, wait, that wouldn’t work as well would it?). In any case, your photography keeps getting better and better every shoot. What a professional you are!August 29, 2009 – 6:56 pm
