It’s high time for me to let you guys do some of the talking and it just so happens that I need your help.
To put my moola where my mouth is, I will give a random commenter a $50 JL gift certificate next Thursday.
UPDATE: THANKS FOR PLAYING! LAUREN & MIKE TRACY TOOK THE PRIZE.
Taking a minute to voice your opinion should definitely be worth $50!
Here’s what I wanna know, especially from you clients!

b) Where did you spend the most time?
c) Where did you find the info you were looking for?
d) Which did you find the most helpful?
e) Which did you use to contact me?
f) Which had you at hello?
g) Was their any important info you felt was missing?

Please feel free to leave any other feedback or tips in regards to my blog, site or even facebook page! I’d love to hear what ya’ll think!
AND because every post needs a picture. Here’s an oldie I shot with a disposable water camera in Blue Ridge, GA a couple years ago.
I love it because I just happened to catch my best friend Joy kissing her hubby Luke on the river. I miss those guys.

Emily - okay here we go:
then the site, for my actual pricing/availability research.
. so, the site, since I didn’t actually have your number at the time.
Blog vs. Site:
a) Where did you go first when finding me? facebook.
b) Where did you spend the most time? now, probably on the blog. during my research, the site.
c) Where did you find the info you were looking for? the site.
d) Which did you find the most helpful? the site for logistics and details, the blog for getting a to-the-minute update of your work.
e) Which did you use to contact me? the phone
f) Which had you at hello? you, Jess. in general. and you are all over both the site and the blog. so, both. your images just speak for themselves, and your personality is poured into each of them, while somehow also allowing the personality of each individual IN them to show through.
g) Was their any important info you felt was missing? well, I initially called you to see if you would travel internationally, because that info wasn’t listed on your website at the time. and I just checked…and it still isn’t. at least not in the details section. so maybe add something to the site about how you’re willing to travel. if indeed you still are.
Site:
a) Music, yay or nay? I don’t mean if you think it’s good music or not, I mean yay or nay to having music period. a definite YAY.
b) Flash, yay or nay? Did you have problems loading it? I never had problems loading it on my internet connection/computer at home, but I’m currently using a very unreliable connection and it took a while. that said, I still think that Flash adds something that you shouldn’t sacrifice. but maybe you could add an option from “jessicalorren.com” to view the site in a Flash-alternative way. (whatever that is. i’m not tech-savvy enough to know the terminology.)
Blog:
NOT AT ALL. I think it’s great that YOU, the photographer, are visible from the very beginning. the rest of the site/blog is about your work, which speaks for itself. I think it’s fair for you to have your 5 seconds of front-and-center time.
a) The Header: Do you like the rotating images, have you ever watched them? I watch them all the time, and I love them. But maybe rotate them every once in a while? For those of us that are blog-frequenters, it might be nice to see a few new ones.
b) My Bio: Does it need to be front and center? Does it get old seeing it every time you visit? I won’t be offended
c) No. of Images in wedding post: More than 25? More than 50? How many do you enjoy seeing? Oh gosh. I think my 150 was probably way more than most brides get, but I thought it was just right. I wouldn’t set a number. I would use your instincts, which, thus far, have proven to be pretty dang good.
d) Are the images too big/too small? Nope. And I love how you arrange them, make some smaller/bigger to create an artful display on the blog.
Hope this is helpful! I just think the world of you, dear. So proud to know you, and to have had you be such a special and memorable part of Nick’s and my promises of forever.
p.s. Just checked out the site for the first time in a while, and I love the new images. Who are those models?

Rachel Stafford - Blog vs. Site:
a) Where did you go first when finding me? Your site
b) Where did you spend the most time? Your blog, definitely. I don’t want to admit how far into the archives I read
c) Where did you find the info you were looking for? At first I was looking for your pricing and contact info, which I found on your site
d) Which did you find the most helpful? I found the blog was more helpful in getting to know you.
e) Which did you use to contact me? I think I used the contact form on your site.
f) Which had you at hello? Blog! But that is probably because I am a blogger myself and love reading them.
g) Was their any important info you felt was missing? Not at all.
Site:
a) Music, yay or nay? I don’t mean if you think it’s good music or not, I mean yay or nay to having music period. I personally like listening to music as I work on the computer (currently loving Mat Kearney) and I like your taste in music so I say yay.
b) Flash, yay or nay? Did you have problems loading it? No problems whatsoever loading with flash, so once again yay.
Blog:
a) The Header: Do you like the rotating images, have you ever watched them? I don’t think I’ve ever completely stopped to watch the rotating images before, but now that you mention them I did and I like it a lot.
b) My Bio: Does it need to be front and center? Does it get old seeing it every time you visit? I won’t be offended . I like it because it’s short and to the point, so I definitely don’t get sick of seeing it.
c) No. of Images in wedding post: More than 25? More than 50? How many do you enjoy seeing? I like what you are doing now. Just a little taste and gets me oh so excited to see what you will do at our wedding!
d) Are the images too big/too small? Perfect!July 23, 2010 – 6:55 am
K. Lin - a) Where did you go first when finding me? – I actually don’t remember, I just stumbled upon your page somehow through another’s person blog (one of your client’s blog I’m sure).
b) Where did you spend the most time? – Blog
c) Where did you find the info you were looking for? – The most important info to me is pricing, photographer bio (including where the photographer is based!), and camera information.
d) Which did you find the most helpful? – N/A
e) Which did you use to contact me? – N/A
f) Which had you at hello? – Your pictures!
g) Was their any important info you felt was missing? – More elaborate bio about your background and experience; information about which cameras or brands you use!
Site:
a) Music, yay or nay? – N/A since I read all entries in Google Reader
b) Flash, yay or nay? Did you have problems loading it? – N/A since I read all entries in Google Reader
Blog:
a) The Header: Do you like the rotating images, have you ever watched them? – Yes
b) My Bio: Does it need to be front and center? Does it get old seeing it every time you visit? – Yes, you should just make a link.
c) No. of Images in wedding post: More than 25? More than 50? How many do you enjoy seeing? – The more the merrier!!!! Seriously. Other photographers’ blog only feature a handful of pictures and that leaves me unsatisfied. What could be your favorite picture isn’t necessarily the viewer’s favorite as well.
d) Are the images too big/too small? – Neither
Other comments: Can you please us another font?? The current one sort of gives me a headache.
And maybe change the style of the way comments are left? Why can’t we have separate paragraphs??
P.S. I don’t need to be entered in the contest since I can’t afford you! Haha. Just wanted to share my input.July 22, 2010 – 6:20 pm

Site:

Bobby - Blog vs. Site:
a) Blog, then site
b) Frustratingly on the site… The blog is where I more effectively spent my time.
c) Blog
d) Blog
e) My wife?
f) The blog is much more captivating. The site is just a photography site.
g) Nope…
Site:
a) I will always say nay to this. And again, I say nay.
b) Flash can be ok. I guess the mantra should be to “incorporate flash,” rather than to build an entire site in flash. That way, on a slower connection, people have stuff to look at while the rest of the site is loading.
Blog:
a) They are nice, but I’m not looking for a great header when I visit a blog. I’m looking for photos and snippits.
b) Again, I go to a blog to see blog entries. In my very humble opinion, the bio should be in an “about me” section. It is very good information to have on a photography site, because people are always wondering “what does this person look like, and what will it be like to work with him/her? What is this person’s level of experience, what does he/she enjoy shooting, etc,” but I don’t mind making an extra click to find out.
c) In a blog? MAYBE 10. MAYBE. All that scrolling can get tiring.
d) They are well sized. Big enough to see detail, not big enough to be annoying.
That’s it???July 22, 2010 – 4:43 pm
Natalie - Blog vs. Site:
a) Where did you go first when finding me? Site
b) Where did you spend the most time? Blog
c) Where did you find the info you were looking for? site… for pricing and detail stuff like that
d) Which did you find the most helpful? blog… it made me realize that I loved your pictures!
e) Which did you use to contact me? Your phone.. but prolly would have used your email from your site
f) Which had you at hello? Definately the blog!
g) Was their any important info you felt was missing? Nope!
Site:
a) Music, yay or nay? I don’t mean if you think it’s good music or not, I mean yay or nay to having music period.Yes to music!!! It almost brings you to another place when visiting your site! I love it!
b) Flash, yay or nay? Did you have problems loading it? Yay… no problems loading, but you have a flashless sight
Blog:
a) The Header: Do you like the rotating images, have you ever watched them? I never noticed them because I was more focused on getting to the pictures and the blogging
b) My Bio: Does it need to be front and center? Does it get old seeing it every time you visit? I won’t be offended
It doesn’t bother me!! I think its a good thing to have for first timers!!
c) No. of Images in wedding post: More than 25? More than 50? How many do you enjoy seeing? Definately more than 25… probably around the 50-65 mark… it gives you a good idea of the details and all the aspects of the wedding without it starting to get boring
d) Are the images too big/too small? They are perfect!
I wouldn’t change much of your site… I just think its so easy to navigate around it. The pictures and the time you put into the blogging is very captivating…The only thing I wish is that it showed up on my phone faster

jessica d - Blog vs. Site:
a) Where did you go first when finding me? website
b) Where did you spend the most time? blog
c) Where did you find the info you were looking for? website
d) Which did you find the most helpful? website
e) Which did you use to contact me? website or facebook?
f) Which had you at hello? both
g) Was there any important info you felt was missing? not really. you have your bases covered.
Site:
a) Music, yay or nay? I don’t mean if you think it’s good music or not, I mean yay or nay to having music period. Yay. I mean, I’ve even recommended a song.
b) Flash, yay or nay? Did you have problems loading it? I’m in the middle here. Don’t know enough about computers to say either way. When I’m on the site and click a category (babies, families, etc) it loads but slowly. on my comp anyways. everyone is different. In general, I don’t have a problem with your site. it doesn’t crash or anything
Blog:
a) The Header: Do you like the rotating images, have you ever watched them? I’ve watched a couple. It would be cool if every image was on a random cycle so it wasn’t always the same ones. everytime someone came to your blog it would be a surprise!
b) My Bio: Does it need to be front and center? Does it get old seeing it every time you visit? I won’t be offended. I think it’s fine the way it is.
c) No. of Images in wedding post: More than 25? More than 50? How many do you enjoy seeing? I think the amounts you do are fine. Definitely not more than 50 though. Yours average less than 25 right? I think that’s good.
d) Are the images too big/too small? just right.July 22, 2010 – 4:27 pm
