Yep. My one and only little sister is getting married.

I couldn’t be more proud of the woman she has grown into and I know that she will make a wonderful wife. I am soooo thankful that God has blessed her with an amazing guy who loves her perfectly and lets her shine. I don’t have a picture of them together yet since he was on tour when I visited but stay tuned for Sully & Melissa’s engagement photos post-Thanksgiving.

But just so you can see how radiant she is, here’s a quick one I snapped on the side of the road.

Yesterday I was so excited. Excited that we had the most gorgeous day of the year and that I got to go out and shoot in it. What made it even more exciting was who I was going to shoot. Dave and I have been trying to get together with this couple for easily a year now and have never been able to work it. So when Callie contacted me about doing a shoot for her little family I was super excited because I knew that would give us some great hang time and that we could even catch some dinner afterwards! Well we did and it was wonderful.

We were blessed with some gorgeous light and I was even able to try some new tricks I have been wanting to practice. I don’t know how many lighting rules I am following/breaking here but I’m a sucker for moments and I love these. Enjoy!

This past weekend I had the pleasure of doing a different kind of “newborn” mini-session.

Levi and Sheena welcomed little Nami Sue home on October 3rd and she is just darling. The happy couple has also just purchased their first home and wanted some meaningful art pieces to adorn their freshly painted walls. So we decided on a session at their favorite beach (and mine). This patch of shore is incredibly beautiful and just so happens to be the very same place where Levi popped the question to Sheena over four years ago.

I snapped a whole lot of shots but here are a few of my faves.

Levi is going to kill me for posting a kissy picture, but I can’t resist the cuteness.

I can’t resist sharing these photos. The moment captured here sums up why I love my job. The fact that I get to be part of these moments, I get the privilege to preserve them and the joy of sharing them just blows my mind.

So let me give you a little background on these shots. How many guys have ever wondered what girls do when they go to the bathroom in groups? I know I’ve heard the question a million times. Well so did these girls, so they took it upon themselves to start a tradition of answering that question for their grooms on their wedding day. Now when each of the girls get married their new husband is invited to finally learn what goes on in there. I may be ruining the surprise for several future grooms here but I can’t resist sharing what happened when it was Sergiy’s turn to join the ladies and find out for himself. Priceless.

It is taking ever ounce of me to not press pause on my life until this session is completely ready to go up. I am so excited about it. But we gotta eat- so for now, just a preview. But not just any preview- a Kelly B. bridal preview. Kelly is my number one fan and I can honestly say JL photography would not be what it is today without this girl. She is a constant listening ear and source of encouragement for me and I love her dearly. This was shoot 3 or 4 for Kelly and by far my favorite. I don’t want to give it all away yet but we had so much fun and I am dying to share the rest with you. But for now, here’s just one. BUT stay tuned for the rest because there’s a twist at the end.

Jessica Lorren photography is expanding! That’s right, Dave and I hired our first employee yesterday. His name is Coconut and he is in charge of keeping me company and helping me to become more efishent. Ha. But seriously, he is a belated bday present and he is so darn cute, we are just in love. As I write this he is swimming on his side as fast as he can from one side of his tank to the other. Just precious. Anyway, I am so excited to have a little buddy now and if you’d like, you can leave a comment for coconut and I will give him the message.

In my passionate pursuit of conquering my to-do list I sometimes forget to stop and enjoy the items that get so furiously checked off the list. Well not today. Today I spent a moment enjoying citrus and the newest JL treat, a session album.

Not just any session album but Sergiy & Rache l’s engagement session album. I know we all aware of how cool this couple is, but they get another cool point for wanting to showcase their images in a clean, modern and beautiful album.

This was another first for JL photography and it certainly won’t be the last. So if you have had a session and you wish you had received the opportunity to show off your shots and earn cool points, it’s not too late. OR, if you have a session coming up and you have bigger hopes and dreams for your photos than just turning them into a facebook album, I can help.

I love pictures. No surprise there I know, but I mean it from the deepest part of me. I always have and always will. That is one of the reasons for my facebook addiction. I log on several times a day just to look at everyone’s photos. Today I popped on and something caught my eye. It was a photo shot by two of my gorgeous clients on their Mexican honeymoon in Cabo San Lucas. Remember Bryan and Julie? Well they are super adorable and I am thrilled they did Cabo for their honeymoon. You see Cabo has always held a special place in my heart since my three best friends and I spent an amazing spring break there in college. It was the first place I ever saw a whale in the wild. Life-changing. We had a blast and the memories we made that week still bring a smile to my face. Just like this awesome photo did this afernoon. The reflection in her shades is of a natural arch over what is called “Lover’s Beach”. How perfect! So I asked Julie if I could share it and she said yes. I just thought you guys might enjoy it. Thanks Julie!
