How beautiful is this girl?

Amy is an actress so she brought a long a few of her favorite toys. Girl’s got good taste!

For Tim & Jenny theirs flew by without the opportunity to enjoy some relaxed bride and groom portraits. And thanks to my dear friend Lauren Daversa, they contacted me for some. So we set a date, and it poured. So we set another date and it was 40 degrees. But we made it happen and had such a great time.

All my clients are cool. Also a fact.

But I need to tell you that Tim has got some serious talent. He’s the head chef at LeftOver’s Cafe here in Jupiter. And I am not being dramatic when I tell you that I have never experienced anything like his work in my life. He takes passion for food to a whole new level. He blends intense enthusiasm and creativity with the freshest ingredients in bold ways that truly enlighten your mind and leave you wondering what the heck you’ve been eating your whole life. Im not joking. Please please please if you live in Palm Beach County, make it a point to sample his art soon. And whatever you do, do not just go for dinner. Go for the full course experience, you wont be sorry! Oh and ask to be seated in Jenny’s section. She is angelic!

I love photographing every piece of that day when two people become one among their families and friends. It’s beyond beautiful to me.

It was genuinely an honor to be the photographer at Colt & Amanda’s wedding and to witness the exchange of their heartfelt (and memorized!) vows, excited glances, and proud smiles.

Here are a few glimpses of what I saw…

These photos are of Amanda’s great grandparents and grandparents on their wedding day- and her dress was handmade by her grandmother. What beautiful heirlooms.

Dave captured this one of Colt before the ceremony began. I almost cried when I saw it.

And the rain came just as soon as the ceremony finished.

She is the true embodiment of words like beautiful, loving, gracious, patient, generous, joyful, hilarious, adorable, warm, friendly, compassionate, gentle, sweet, and thoughtful but somehow even that list doesn’t even scratch the surface of who she is. She is the most genuinely selfless person I have ever met. Without contest. She gives with everything she has and forgives with even more. Her heart is pure and her passionate pursuit of life is 100% others-focused. I am constantly humbled by who she is and amazed that I get to be her sister.

So with that little glimpse of Melissa, you can safely assume that God would have prepared someone incredible to be her husband. Someone that would love, treasure, and honor her the way she deserves. That man is Sully Cook. And over thanksgiving I got to photograph them, to witness their love and its purity. And to be honest- these pictures are just a tiny window into what I saw.

I borrowed this camera from my dad. He used to photograph my mom with it before I was even born. I have those images and they are a few of my favorite things.

So let me give you a little background on these shots. How many guys have ever wondered what girls do when they go to the bathroom in groups? I know I’ve heard the question a million times. Well so did these girls, so they took it upon themselves to start a tradition of answering that question for their grooms on their wedding day. Now when each of the girls get married their new husband is invited to finally learn what goes on in there. I may be ruining the surprise for several future grooms here but I can’t resist sharing what happened when it was Sergiy’s turn to join the ladies and find out for himself. Priceless.

So we headed to one of my favorite parks that offered plenty of shade and dress-trashing options, and then we had some serious fun. Caity was fan-tas-tic and totally willing to go with whatever ideas came to mind. John was assistant extraordinaire in the background carrying our stuff, and on guard ready to grab my gear if I started to slip towards the water. (note: slippery rocks + camera gear = very scary).We started off by playing nice with the dress and then when we couldn’t take the heat any longer we decided it was time to trash!!

So even though it was scorching hot and we had some pretty substantial shadows to deal with, we still had a great shoot and as a result I am posting 20 shots. Ridiculous I know, but I am so captivated by the feel of this session that I couldn’t narrow it down any further. So enjoy! And I am interested to know, would you “trash” your wedding dress?
