Everett & Laurie

Laurie and I were friends way back before either of us were photographers. Fast-forward four and a half years and here we are, both photographing weddings professionally and living out our dreams. I am always flattered when other photographers hire me to take their photos, but with Laurie and Everett, it was so much more than that.

2012 in Review

These images are a selection from 30 weddings, four countries, seven states and who-knows-how many sessions. As I look back at the 2012 I was given, my heart overflows with gratitude. It is incredibly humbling to receive such an outpouring of love when you know you deserve nothing.  That is how I view the past year. The couples I photographed, the places I traveled, the moments I got to experience, all blessings from a God that delights in giving great gifts to His children. I am just so fortunate to be one of them.

This year I had the honor of seeing my work featured in five magazines, on more than ten blogs and I even did my first-ever podcast. I was also fortunate enough to shoot alongside a few incredible photographers, one of which being my dear friend Kat Braman. Several of these images would not have been possible without her or my talented stylist friends Jessica Sloane and Kasey D.

Dave. How you have put up with me for another year, I have no idea. Your patience and grace teaches me more about love than you will ever know. Thank you for your caring tenderness and for being the strongest part of who I am. I love you.

Family Photos on The Beach | Juno

When I hear the words, "family", "photos", and "beach" used all together, I cringe. All I can think of is matching outfits, pleated pants and footprints in the sand. However, if I could guarantee every family I photographed on the beach was as adorably stylish as the one above, I would change my name to Jessica Lorren Organic Family Photography on The Beach. It's would be a mouthful but it would be worth it. I seriously loved every single minute I spent photographing this little family of three (soon-to-be four). Could they be any cuter?

Winter Shoot for Darling Magazine

Recently, I was invited to contribute to a new magazine that seeks challenge the status quo of what society feeds women about their worth, beauty, identity and relationships. It was a huge honor because I whole-heartedly believe in their vision and want to do anything I can to be a part of it. So needless to say, when they asked me to photograph content for their article on how to cultivate peace in your relationships, I was completely on board. I was given the task of creating winter scene based on around two people in two canoes, reaching towards one another and the above are some of the results.

So a big thanks to the girls at Darling for inviting me to be a part and also to Shea and Andy for bundling up on a sunny South Florida morning. Also, if you have not checked out this new magazine for women, I would highly recommend a copy for you and someone you love.

"In a world saturated with messages telling women they’re not enough, Darling Magazine is a voice that shouts loudly above the noise. It’s a fast growing movement, a mentality and powerful tool full of positive messages for women. Tearing down the unrealistic ideals women are held to and challenging the status quo, Darling addresses important, timely issues and truly uplifts women to a place of security, true beauty, and purpose. When spread, the message of Darling could truly start a revolution in the hearts and minds of women and change the world of media as it now stands."

Ian & Briana's Wedding at The Southernmost House Key West

Ian and Briana are of those couples that I just can't get enough of. I won't even admit how many times I have watched their wedding slideshow covered in goosebumps. But I will say that witnessing their wedding day was one of the most humbling and refreshing experiences I had this year. The love they have for one another and share with their friends and family is so genuinely tender and kind, I am a bit surprised it still exist in today's world. I am so thankful to have been their photographer and encouraged to be a little more tender and a little more kind towards my loved ones as a result.

Watercolor Inspired Bridal Boudoir Session in Nashville

From the girls that brought you a Nashville farm-to-table engagement party comes this watercolor-inspired bridal boudoir session. Jessica Sloane and I love working together so we dreamed up this styled session last time I visited Nashville. This was an incredible day for me because not only is bridal boudoir one of my favorite types of sessions to photograph, but I had the chance to work with the darling Jordan Byers on hair and makeup and the stunning Jessica in front of the camera. I was deeply inspired by these girls and I hope you enjoy the outcome.

Sarah, JB and a little Tuck

The very best thing about my job is the people it has brought into my life. Sarah Tucker is among those at the top of that list. I know many of you only know her online but I can assure you she is every bit as lovely in real life. She is truly a treasure and I could not be more excited for she and JB as they welcome little Tuck into the world.

Sarah, thank you for allowing me to photograph another little piece of your fairy tale and here's to wishing you the happiest (early) birthday!
