2012 in Review

These images are a selection from 30 weddings, four countries, seven states and who-knows-how many sessions. As I look back at the 2012 I was given, my heart overflows with gratitude. It is incredibly humbling to receive such an outpouring of love when you know you deserve nothing.  That is how I view the past year. The couples I photographed, the places I traveled, the moments I got to experience, all blessings from a God that delights in giving great gifts to His children. I am just so fortunate to be one of them.

This year I had the honor of seeing my work featured in five magazines, on more than ten blogs and I even did my first-ever podcast. I was also fortunate enough to shoot alongside a few incredible photographers, one of which being my dear friend Kat Braman. Several of these images would not have been possible without her or my talented stylist friends Jessica Sloane and Kasey D.

Dave. How you have put up with me for another year, I have no idea. Your patience and grace teaches me more about love than you will ever know. Thank you for your caring tenderness and for being the strongest part of who I am. I love you.

Scott & Sarah at The Ft. Lauderdale Yacht Club

I have to confess - this session was a dream come true and huge challenge all at the same time. The dream come true part was photographing Sarah. She is stop-you-dead-in-your-tracks gorgeous. However, this shoot really pushed me because 10 minutes into it my camera strap broke, sending my dearly beloved contax to the ground lens first. I literally felt my stomach hit the ground with it. But I had a job to do so I finished the roll in that camera and pulled out my new 35mm (which had just arrived that morning) and shot the rest of the session with that. Scott & Sarah were total troopers, it had to have been 95 degrees, their puppy was along and their photographer was shooting with a broken camera! But honestly, I kind-of like the dreamy effect the broken lens created and the colors from the 35mm are totally different. So here's to challenges and awesome couples!

Its no secret that I am a total foodie with a huge crush on Nashville. So on my last trip up my dear friend Jessica Sloane and I had the opportunity to collaborate on something right up our alleys, a Farm to Table Inspired Engagement Dinner. We had an absolute blast putting it together and to my delight, it is featured today on one of my all-time favorite blogs, Snippet & Ink. So click on over there and check it out, there's even a behind-the-scenes video!

Gillian & David's Palm Beach Engagement Session

Well folks, it just doesnt get a whole lot cuter than these two. I could have seriously photographed these two for hours. As it was, I definitely overshot this session but I could not contain myself. The cuteness just took over. Even just deciding which ones to blog was a bit overwhelming. Gillian and David brought along so many fun items to stage their shoot based around their holiday season wedding this year at The Powel Crosley Estate. I will keep some of those a secret but for now, take a gander at this cute-overload. All film.
